Destiny of science

Alfred K.K. Sayila of Lusaka, Zambia

Oh, what a discovery of utter menace!
To the soil and the body
The farmer works the land harder
To make most from his field crops

But it none other than fertiliser.
Blood life of cash crops,
To give bulk and strength to plants
Bumper harvest to farmer.

However nobody seems to care and worry,
The damage to land and life
As long as it will be bumper harvest
To fill pocket and stomach.

Everything has become unnatural and synthetic
Fertilisers are a way of life
For both the producer and consumer of the land
Mindless of the cost to life

The fertilisers are wreaking utter destruction
To the soil and the soul
Its deadly impact is slow and sure
Soon it will be death for all.

Oh, what a novel discovery in agriculture
Poisoning the soil and cells
Increasing the yield but famishing the land

It is a destiny of science!
